Red Bell Pepper and Turmeric Smoothie as a Simple and Natural Detox Remedy

For September, which is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, I would like to share with you this energy booster and natural detox remedy and recipe.

We all know to include fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices rich in antioxidants in our diets. We also should know that some of our fruits and vegetables should be purchased only organic because of their very high level of pesticides.

But did you know that certain foods can help us prevent ovarian cancer? Studies show that if we eat more vegetables, fruits, beans, spices and tea with certain flavonoid compounds, we can reduce the risk of developing cancer.

Tomato is rich in the flavonoid Kaempferol and can protect us from ovarian cancer.

The luteolin in red bell pepper can also reduce ovarian cancer risk.

The detox spice turmeric with its health promoting compound Curcumin is a powerful antioxidant and may also inhibit growth of breast cancer cells.

Red Bell Pepper and Turmeric Smoothie Natural Detox Remedy

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup tomato juiceNatural Simple Detox Smoothie Recipe
  • 1 cup carrot juice (from organic carrots)
  • 2 large organic red bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 turmeric powder
  • pepper to taste

Directions:

Combine carrot, lemon and tomato juice. Add red bell peppers and turmeric and process in a blender until smooth. Add pepper to taste.
