On Halloween, treat your children by helping them fight childhood obesity and diabetes.
Why not provide them with some healthy alternatives to all the candy and sweets they will be exposed to.
You can start by learning how to read the labels on candy. Just a quick reminder that one tea spoon contains 4 grams of sugar.
Halloween should be no different than any other time of the year. By limiting their candy intake, protect your little tykes not only from the harmful effects of sugar, but artificial colors, chemicals and an infinite number of other unhealthy additives.
Some Halloween Alternatives to Candy
- cookies (see links to recipes below)
- sunflower seeds
- pumpkin seeds
- whole grain crackers
- carrot sticks
- microwave popcorn
- trading cards
I am sure you can add more ideas to this list, so be creative to keep your children healthy and happy.
